The short version
Locked In does not collect, store, sell or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking. Everything the app needs is saved on your own device, and some of it is kept in step between your own devices through your iCloud account.
Who we are
Locked In (listed on the App Store as “Locked In: Focus Buddy”) is made by Sankritya Thakur, an independent developer. In this policy “we” means the developer. You can reach us at sankeydadev@gmail.com.
What the app saves on your device
- Your session. The goal you set, how much time you have focused, when you left and came back, and how many times you stepped away. This is what lets a session survive the app being closed.
- Your last chosen duration, so the set-up screen remembers it.
- Your history. A record of each finished session (its length, focus name, steps, and the times you left and came back), which is what your week, your chain and Latch's closet are worked out from.
- Your presets, reminder days and Latch's look.
- Your blocked-app selection, if you turn on “Block apps”. See below.
This information is stored on your device. It is never sent to us, and we have no way to see it.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, the app uses Apple's iCloud key-value storage to keep your daily focus totals, your presets and Latch's look the same on your iPhone and Mac. That data is stored in your own iCloud account under Apple's privacy policy. It does not pass through any server of ours and we cannot read it. Your blocked-app selection is never synced. To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for the app in your device's iCloud settings.
Screen Time and app blocking
App blocking is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, iOS asks for your permission to use Screen Time, and you choose which apps, categories or websites to shield while you are locked in. Apple provides that selection to the app as anonymous tokens. The app cannot see which apps you picked, what you do in them, or any of your usage data, and the selection never leaves your device.
Notifications and Live Activities
If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders on your device when you leave a session or when a break ends. These are local notifications created by the app itself. No server is involved and no push notification token is collected. The Live Activity on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island is also updated directly by the app on your device.
What we do not do
- We do not collect names, email addresses, contacts, location, photos or device identifiers.
- We do not use analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not sell or share personal information, because we have none.
This website
This site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical information needed to deliver pages, such as your IP address and browser type, in its server logs. We do not add cookies, analytics or tracking scripts to this site. The timer demo on the home page runs entirely in your browser and saves nothing.
If you email us
If you contact us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply to you and do not add you to any mailing list.
Children
Locked In is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA and India's DPDP Act give you rights to access, correct, delete and object to the use of your personal data. Because the app sends us nothing, we hold no personal data about you from the app. If you have emailed us and would like that correspondence deleted, write to sankeydadev@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Deleting your data
Ending a session clears it. Deleting the app removes everything it saved on that device. Anything synced to your iCloud can be removed in Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage. To revoke Screen Time access, turn off “Block apps” in the app or remove the permission in Settings › Screen Time.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change ships.
